A watering control that waters the garden reliably and comfortably, including when nobody is at home. Three different, mutually independent schedules can be created, each with its own watering start, duration and weekdays. The user interface is described as unique: simple and intuitive programming by turning and pressing. Water Now allows manual watering — for example to fill a bucket — at any time at the press of a button, without taking the control off the tap. The contents are the control alone.
Most timers on this shelf offer one pattern: a frequency and a duration, applied every day.
Three separate schedules, each with its own start time, its own duration and its own days of the week, is a different capability. One tap can then serve a lawn sprinkler on Tuesday and Friday evenings, a soaker hose in a bed every other morning, and a short run for pots daily — without compromise.
That is the situation most single-tap gardens are actually in.
The interface is the part of a water timer you meet twice a year, and it is the part that goes wrong.
A device programmed by pressing MODE eleven times is a device you programme with the manual in your other hand, in the rain, in April. A dial you turn to a value and press to confirm is a pattern borrowed from every thermostat and oven in the house.
It will not appear in a comparison table and it is why this timer costs more than the two beneath it.
The small feature that stops a timer being an annoyance.
Without it, getting water out of a tap that has a timer on it means either overriding the programme — and then resetting it — or unscrewing the unit. With it, you press a button, fill the can, and the schedule is untouched.
Everything electrical and mechanical. No connection thread, no battery type, no IP rating, no pressure range.
On a shelf where one competitor publishes a pressure range and another an IP code, the most expensive non-connected timer here publishes neither — and both are what decide whether a device survives a season screwed to an outdoor tap.

Because one tap often serves more than one thing. A sprinkler on the lawn twice a week, a soaker in a bed every other day, and pots every morning are three different patterns, and a timer with one schedule forces a compromise.
For something programmed once a year, yes. Turning to a value and pressing to confirm is a pattern most people already know; cycling through modes with two buttons is a sequence you look up. On a device you touch in April and forget, that is the difference.
Opens the valve on demand, then returns to the schedule. The alternative on simpler timers is either unscrewing the unit from the tap or overriding the programme and having to set it again.
