An air filter suitable for one named maker’s 3.5 PS horizontal and 3.5 PS
Quantum engines, replacing three stated references, and fitting machines from
three further named brands.
The title adds the dimensions: length 132, width 113, height 20 mm, and a power
range of 3 to 6 PS.
The depth, which is the one to check
Three filters on this shelf are almost identical in outline and differ in
depth: 20 mm here, 22 mm on one, 25 mm on another.
That is the dimension people get wrong. Length and width are what the eye
compares; depth is what decides whether the cover closes over the new filter,
or whether a shallow one sits loose in a deep housing and lets unfiltered air
past the edge.
A filter that does not seal is worse than a dirty one — it passes grit straight
into the engine.
Bought by power, not by machine
“3 to 6 PS Quantum engines.”
That is how this end of the trade describes a family: by the engine maker and
a power band, rather than by the mower it ended up in.
It is also why the compatibility list names three further brands. Those are
mower manufacturers that fitted the same engine, and their owners will be
looking for their own badge rather than the engine’s.
What is missing
The element material, and any statement of how to clean it.
Paper never washes; foam usually does. Without knowing which this is, the safe
assumption is the restrictive one — tap it out gently, and replace it rather
than washing it.
One line
The shortest listing on this shelf, and it still carries three dimensions and
four references, because they are in the title.
That is a reasonable way to sell a commodity part. It is also the whole of what
a buyer gets.
