Mulching means cutting the clippings small enough that they fall back into the sward and rot there instead of being collected, and on most mowers it is done by blocking the discharge chute so the grass is recirculated under the deck until it is short enough to fall through. The part that does the blocking is a wedge — « Mulchkeil » in the German titles — and that is the simplest thing this shelf sells. The type column separates it from the other two forms. A full kit pairs the plug with a purpose-shaped blade whose curved wing keeps the clippings circulating, which mulches markedly better than a plug alone on a deck that was not designed for it. And a mulching blade sold on its own suits machines that already have a plug or a closed deck.
