The wheels drive the brushes through a gear, so pushing it turns them. There is no motor anywhere and nothing to run out — the faster you walk, the faster they spin.
Poorly, like every machine on this shelf. Rotating brushes flick dry material into the hopper; wet leaves stick to the brush and to the ground. A sweeper is a dry-weather tool and no listing here says otherwise.
On an open lawn or a drive, substantially — 53 cm a pass and a 100-litre hopper against a rake and a barrow. In corners, under shrubs and against walls, the rake still wins, because the sweeper cannot reach.
