The line about the hub cap
A small sentence that saves a small disappointment.
A mower’s hub cap clips over the axle nut. It keeps grass and grit out of the
hub, and it makes the wheel match the other three.
A replacement wheel arriving without one still works. It looks different, the
nut is exposed, and if you prised the old cap off carelessly you now have three
capped wheels and one bare one.
Being told before ordering is the difference between transferring the old cap
carefully and discovering the problem afterwards.
Replaces a named original
One reference, two brands, one deck width.
That is the cleanest fit statement available short of a genuine part: a
specific original number, not a list of machines or a claim of universality.
If your old wheel carries that number, this one is its replacement.
The 12 mm axle
The commonest European mower size, and one of three on this shelf — 12, 12.7
and a bushed range from 8.2 to 15.8.
The axle is the dimension that has to be exactly right. Everything else on a
wheel is a preference; the bore is a fit.
What goes unpublished
The diameter.
That is an odd omission on a mower wheel, because diameter is part of the
cutting height: a wheel of the wrong size at one corner raises or lowers the
deck on that side. The original reference covers it for the named machines, and
there is nothing to check for anybody else.
